Framlingham College, one of England's leading public schools, is a co-educational boarding and day school with a reputation for excellence in academic, sporting and cultural fields. It occupies an imposing position overlooking the ancient castle of Framlingham in the heart of East Anglia and has particularly fine facilities including a new Science School, 6th Form seminar classrooms, Drama Studio, and central forum, a large Technical and Activities Centre and a flood-lit artificial grass hockey, tennis games area, and a nine hole golf course.
The philosophy of the school can be summarised in four words - expectations, breadth, community and the individual. High (but realistic) expectations are necessary if pupils are to make the most of their abilities in both academic and non-academic fields; breadth is maintained in the curriculum and fostered outside it by excellent provision in sporting, musical, dramatic, artistic and technical areas and by a wide activities programme, including strong CCF and Duke of Edinburgh Scheme; a sense of community and mutual care and support is necessary for people to be happy; and our programmes are designed to meet individual needs rather than to force pupils into a narrowly defined common mould, particulary in the range of options of various types at the Post-GCSE stage.
Entry to the Senior School is normally at 13 (via Scholarship exam or Common Entrance) or 16 (via interview and GCSE results). Academic, music, drama, and art scholarships (at 13+and 16+) are available.
There is also a Junior School (4-13) at Brandeston Hall, four miles from the College. APs are available (5+, 8+ and 11+). There are academic and music scholarships at 11+.
Framlingham College is a charity which exists for the purpose of educating children. No 3104779/2.
